Building Project

Building for a better future – bringing our facilities into the 21st Century.

Ticknall’s village school was opened by Dame Catherine Harpur of the Calke Estate in 1744.

Closed by the local authority in 1987, it was immediately re-opened by parents, under the auspices of the ancient trust,

continuing the traditions of the village school.

Now it is time to extend and modernise the 1840′s school building to meet the needs of the school.

The parents and local community are working hard to raise £125,000 to build a sustainable school for

the 21st century, continuing the original idea of Dame Catherine Harpur to support and educate the village children.
